Mission Statement
The ability to solve problems is a basic skill and one of the essential components in achieving success in life. Effective problem solving is empowering and Puzzle Hub provides users the opportunity to master and strengthen this skillset in a fun and stimulating way that will last a lifetime.
Studies have shown that when learning is fun, it is easier to absorb information and retain knowledge. Fun has a positive effect on motivation levels, determining what we learn and how likely we are to try new things. The Puzzle Hub is inspired by the work of neurologist, Dr. Judy Willis, who showed how fun experiences increase levels of oxygen, dopamine, and endorphins. Hormones that are all important for successful learning. Willis wrote: “When students are engaged and motivated and feel minimal stress, information flows freely through the effective filter in the amygdala and they achieve higher levels of cognition, make connections, and experience ‘aha’ moments…”
Each series of puzzles in The Puzzle Hub falls into one of four categories. The categories include coordination, memory, problem-solving, and reaction time. As in other highly successful sites on the web, such as Chess.com, users who visit The Puzzle Hub work towards the goal of rising in the rankings. A leaderboard provides users with a reward system and a readily available way of measuring their success. This system of “Gamification” -- applying gaming mechanics to a non-game environment -- will keep learners engaged and motivated. As Albert Einstein once said, “Having fun is the best way to learn.”
For anyone who believes that incorporating pleasure into learning is important, The Puzzle Hub provides a creative and stimulating way to learn for users of all ages.
